Wavetronix, the worldwide market leader in radar traffic detection and monitoring, will use Intertraffic 2018 to showcase SmartSensor HD and its successful deployment as a multi-channel count station in France.  Visitors to the Wavetronix booth will learn how effectively HD’s dual-beam radar emulates dual-loop speed traps and the benefits of non-intrusive radar.

SmartSensor HD uses its unique dual-beam design to create a speed trap that results in superior per vehicle speed accuracy.  By measuring the time it takes for a vehicle to pass from one beam to the next, HD can replicate loop traps for every lane on both sides of the highway, replacing at least two loops per lane.

As a non-intrusive technology, SmartSensor HD installs above the ground.  It can quickly be installed and configured, saving transportation agencies time and money.  It also protects road workers from the dangers of being in the roadway.  And because HD installs easily on existing infrastructure, such as poles, gantries and mast arms, agencies can deploy SmartSensor HD without the additional costs of new infrastructure.

In France, deployment experiments using HD as counting stations on existing infrastructure have been very successful.  HD has been installed on mast arms typically used for video cameras, and on double-post gantries or single-sided jib cranes, which have previously been installed for variable message signs.  Repurposing these existing structures has saved French agencies significant costs per station.
