PROVO, UT—Texas is recognized as a leader in adopting technology for more intelligent transportation, so it's no surprise that the state is one of the first in the nation to adopt the SmartSensor Matrix for intersection stop bar detection. After extensive evaluation, officials in the City of Fort Worth have purchased 78 Matrix units for installation at 19 intersections scheduled to be built or upgraded in the near future.

Fort Worth was the first city in the state to install a Matrix system, which was evaluated for nine-months before the city made the larger purchase. Mark Mathis, P.E., and Marisa Conlin, P.E., conducted the evaluation, which included performance analysis and in-depth training. Wavetronix is represented in Texas by Twincrest Technologies of Mansfield, Texas, an authorized Wavetronix distributor.

Following testing and training, city officials were extremely confident in the performance and reliability of the system. "We desire a system where you install the equipment, shut the cabinet door, and the equipment does its job," says Mathis, the Traffic Services Manager in Fort Worth. "Judging from our evaluations, this system is doing just that."
