LINDON, UT—An environment monitoring system that uses SmartSensor HD for traffic detection has been awarded the gold medal at the 2008 POLEKO International Trade Fair for Environmental Protection in Poland.

The Enviro 151 System consists of a variety of sensors that continuously collect noise levels, traffic volumes and environmental conditions, including temperature, humidity and wind speed. The system is the product of Far Data, a company based in Krakow, Poland.

According to event information, the POLEKO gold medal is presented to "the best, most outstandingly innovative products." Hubert Nagany, head of Far Data's business department, says a jury of experts considered a number of factors before awarding the prize: "To receive a gold medal, the Enviro 151 had to show that it's of high quality, a high-tech innovation made on the basis of the highest grade of technologies."

Far Data selected SmartSensor HD for its traffic detection because it is non-intrusive, works in all weather conditions and is highly accurate. A company brochure also notes: "Enviro 151 can measure traffic parameters in up to 10 lanes simultaneously and at the same time it can classify vehicles and measure their speed."

POLEKO is an annual event held late each year. The October 2008 show marked its 20th anniversary. According to event coordinators, the gold medal has been awarded annually since 1979 and has received general recognition from both domestic and foreign exhibitors.
