LINDON, UT—The Utah Department of Transportation is deploying several SmartSensor Advance units at intersections throughout the state. More than 70 sensors have been purchased by UDOT as part of the agency's ongoing efforts to improve intersection safety and efficiency.
Working closely with Wavetronix, UDOT has devised a proactive and sophisticated approach to traffic signal operations, and agency officials call SmartSensor Advance an important part of their intersection program. Wavetronix has helped UDOT fine tune the installation process and has offered training to all involved personnel, from contractors to those overseeing the implementation at UDOT, to ensure a successful deployment of the sensors.
UDOT has deployed SmartSensor Advance at many intersections in the past, but this deployment signifies a new and greater commitment by the state to adopt advance detection technologies at all intersections with speeds greater than 45 miles per hour, including coordinated arterial roads.
