The SmartSensor defines the standard in traffic detection with patented technologies that are one-of-a-kind in the ITS industry. SmartSensor installs above-ground and uses patented Digital Wave Radar to measure vehicle volume, occupancy, speed and classification in up to eight lanes of traffic simultaneously.
The SmartSensor is easy to install with a simple, ballpark alignment and the ITS industry's only patented auto-configuration process. SmartSensor Manager™ provides visual confirmation of a successful configuration as it rapidly identifies lanes by observing traffic. No other ITS device matches SmartSensor's rapid deployment and auto-configuration capabilities.
SmartSensor requires no “tweaking” or “tuning” and operates accurately in both side-fire and forward-fire installations. With a detection range of over 200 feet, SmartSensor provides true eight-lane capacity that is unaffected by wind, weather or by changes in temperature and light. Digital Wave Radar also reduces lane “splashing”, works over barriers and can accurately detect partially occluded vehicles.
SmartSensor is manufactured using a modern, automated process which integrates antennas and surface mount components for consistent production and assembly. It contains no serviceable parts, such as batteries, that need to be replaced over time. Traffic data and sensor configuration settings are protected in Flash memory, and SmartSensor can be reconfigured and recalibrated remotely so that future standards, additional communication protocols or future product enhancements can be performed without removing the sensor from its installation.
SmartSensor integrates seamlessly with existing legacy systems and its dual communication ports enable it to integrate with different systems simultaneously. Flexible connectivity also makes it possible to directly retrofit SmartSensor into any existing radar deployment. Easy installation, remote accessibility and perpetual upgradeability make SmartSensor the most accurate, most cost effective traffic monitoring solution.
