Wavetronix Receives Patent for Digital Wave Radar
PROVO, Utah—February 19, 2004—Wavetronix LLC, the world leader in Digital Wave Radarâ„¢ traffic sensors, has been granted a patent for the SmartSensorâ„¢ vehicle detection device and its advanced radar technology.
The U.S. Patent Office has assigned Patent No. 6,693,557 to SmartSensor's unique Digital Wave Radar design. SmartSensor uses Digital Wave Radar to detect vehicle volume, occupancy and speed in up to eight lanes of traffic simultaneously. The sensor installs above ground and operates accurately in all conditions because radar is not affected by changes in weather, temperature or light.
"This patent reinforces our position as a leader in traffic radar technology," says Dr. David Arnold, co-founder and CEO of Wavetronix. "We believe we have a superior product, and we will continue to develop cutting edge technology in pursuit of safer, more efficient roads."
This is the second patent issued to Wavetronix. In 2003, Wavetronix received Patent No. 6,556,916 for its method of defining traffic lanes without requiring manual set-up of lane boundaries. The innovative system allows SmartSensor to calibrate and configure automatically and provides immediate visual confirmation of lane position, vehicle detection and traffic direction. A third patent application has been submitted to the U.S. Patent Office and is currently pending.
