LINDON, Utah—November 04, 2008—The cities of Auckland and Christchurch, New Zealand, recently deployed more than 30 SmartSensor HD units for freeway traffic monitoring and for urban mid-block detection. Wavetronix shipped the first group of sensors in September, followed by a second shipment in October. The sensors are being supplied by HMI Technologies, Ltd., of Pakuranga, Auckland.
Mohammed Hikmet, director of HMI, says, “These installations demonstrate the unique flexibility of the SmartSensor HD to provide detection accuracy in both the local council data planning location and the ITS freeway location.”
“We are excited about this opportunity to help New Zealand solve difficult traffic problems,” says Mike Rose, vice president of sales at Wavetronix. “Additionally, we are fortunate to be represented exclusively in New Zealand by HMI Technologies. They have been New Zealand’s technology leader for transportation and safety products, and they are fully vested in identifying and serving local and national transportation needs.”
