LINDON, Utah—January 28, 2008—The Command SpeedMap has found a new home in Illinois, where it is being used to provide at-a-glance monitoring for one of the busiest traffic areas of the country.
Illinois Department of Transportation District 8 has added SpeedMap to its operations center’s wall of monitors, giving the TOC a dynamic, 3-D visualization of real-time traffic conditions and incident monitoring as well as roadway and sensor status. The SpeedMap installation is part of District 8’s recent ITS expansion along several freeway corridors in southern Illinois.
District 8 will use SpeedMap to monitor a sensor network consisting of Econolite Autoscope video detectors, GRR Canoga Microloops and several SmartSensor HD units from Wavetronix. Real-time data from these devices will be displayed with critical detail, providing operators with a continuous reference of developing conditions.
Building on the proven, broadcast-quality visualization system designed by Triangle Software, Wavetronix has added real-time traffic data features demanded by agencies for complete road and sensor monitoring.
