Wavetronix to Address Traffic Congestion at Congressional Technology Fair

PROVO, Utah—July 11, 2003—Wavetronix LLC, the world leader in Digital Wave Radar™ traffic sensors, has been invited to participate in the Congressional Intelligent Transportation Systems Technology Fair on Traffic Congestion hosted by Chairman Don Young (R-AK) and the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. The Utah-based firm is one of only 16 companies invited to attend the July 15 event in Washington, D.C.

The technology fair will specifically address traffic congestion and the ITS technologies designed to mitigate the nation's growing congestion problems. Congress is currently considering reauthorization of the federal transportation bill, and Congressman Young has stressed the importance of making congestion relief a significant part of that legislation.

Wavetronix' patented system is built around SmartSensor™, the ITS industry's only auto-configuring and auto-calibrating device. SmartSensor installs aboveground and leverages advanced radar technology to accurately detect traffic conditions in up to eight lanes simultaneously. As part of a traffic management system, SmartSensor facilitates congestion relief for travelers by delivering real-time traffic flow information needed for traveler notification, ramp metering, intersection control and roadway planning and design.

Fair organizers have selected ITS companies that best demonstrate the technologies that help alleviate congestion. The event gives companies like Wavetronix the opportunity to show Congress the tools currently being used to make existing roadways more efficient. Wavetronix will be the only participant that currently offers an advanced radar sensor. The Congressional ITS Technology Fair on Traffic Congestion will be held Tuesday, July 15 at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, D.C.
