Wavetronix Hosts ITIP Booth at AASHTO

LINDON, Utah—September 17, 2005—Representatives from Wavetronix attended the annual meeting of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials in Nashville, and hosted an information booth designed to educate attendees of important changes to the Intelligent Transportation Infrastructure Program.

Brian Hagen, Mike Rose and John Wasden manned the booth and passed out brochures published by Wavetronix. The brochure explains the history of ITIP and outlines the benefits now available under the program. It also encourages people to visit www.itip2.com and sign up for more information. The brochure and website are free services from Wavetronix and are not endorsed by the Federal Highway Administration, the agency responsible for ITIP.

“Our presence at AASHTO was not about Wavetronix,” says Hagen, the product manager for Wavetronix' Command line of data management appliances. “There are some great opportunities available to departments of transportation under the new ITIP provisions, and we feel it's very important to educate people about those opportunities.”

ITIP is a federal initiative that encourages heavily congested municipal areas to utilize intelligent transportation systems by offering federal money for system implementation. Portions of the program were initiated in 1998, but recent passage of the SAFETEA-LU transportation act has added new benefits to the program, allowing even more cities to participate.

AASHTO is a non-profit, non-partisan association representing highway and transportation departments in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. It represents all five transportation modes: air, highways, public transport, rail and water; its primary goal is to foster the development, operation and maintenance of an integrated national system.
