WavetronixLINDON, Utah—October 31, 2006—Wavetronix LLC, the world leader in patented Digital Wave Radar™ traffic sensors, has announced large system deployments in both Taiwan and China, bringing the company's total Asian deployments to over 500 SmartSensor™ units just this year alone.
“We have always considered our role in the vehicle detection market to be a partnership with our SmartSensor customers, and the repeat business we've received from Taiwan and China is a testament to that philosophy,” says Michael Rose, vice-president of sales at Wavetronix. “Our commitment to this segment of the vehicle detection market continues to grow, and with the introduction of the SmartSensor HD™, we are seeing this partnership broaden.”
In Taiwan, officials in Taipei City selected SmartSensor for deployment after extensive evaluation. SmartSensors will be installed at more than 200 mid-block detection locations, and officials say local product support was vital in the decision to award such a large order to an international company like Wavetronix: Wavetronix was represented in the project by Sunsky International, the exclusive Wavetronix distributor in Taiwan; Sunsky will also supervisor the installation of these units, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
“We are convinced Taipei City has made the correct decision to award this project to Sunsky, and we are confident that the SmartSensor will exceed Taipei City's expectations for vehicle detection,” says Murphy Sun, president of Sunsky International Ltd.
In China, Wavetronix recently deployed an additional 190 SmartSensors in Jiangsu Province, bringing the total number of SmartSensors to 300 for that freeway monitoring system. In this deployment, SmartSensors are being used to detect traffic volumes, speeds and occupancies across multiple lanes, and to report that data directly to the province's freeway monitoring center.
Both countries now have more than 10 separate projects that rely solely on SmartSensor's patented Digital Wave Radar for consistently accurate detections, bringing the total number of deployed sensors in Asia to more than 800.
