Under the agreement, Triangle Software and Wavetronix will market each other's products through an exclusive interfacing of the Wavetronix Command™ line of traffic data management appliances, and Triangle's BeatTheTraffic™ system for delivering real-time-to-air 3-D animations of traffic conditions. Officials from both companies say the partnership will result in delivery of the most accurate traffic data available to commuters via Internet and broadcast television.

Gueziec and Hagen say the partnership will reach markets nationwide, but will have a first showing of the technology in Des Moines, Iowa. There, vehicle volume, speed and occupancy data will be gathered by Wavetronix SmartSensors™ installed along roadways throughout the city; that data will be delivered in real-time to the Command DataCollector™, an advanced data management system, and the Command DataTranslator™, which will translate the real-time traffic information into a data stream compatible with the BeatTheTraffic visualization system. That system will convert the data into 3-D graphical images depicting current traffic conditions in the area, which can be fed to TV stations for real-time traffic reports.
"It's a fairly complex translation, and a perfect way for us to showcase DataTranslator's capabilities," Hagen says. "The end result will be real-time traffic information broadcast to the public in a way that is totally unique."
