SmartSensors Shipped for Vegas FAST Phase 2

LINDON, Utah—December 01, 2005—Wavetronix LLC, the world leader in patented Digital Wave Radar™ traffic sensors, has expanded its presence in Las Vegas by shipping an additional 76 SmartSensors™ to Nevada's Freeway and Arterial System of Transportation (FAST) project. The additional sensors are being installed as part of the second phase of FAST, an aggressive ITS implementation designed to reduce congestion and improve incident management.

The new SmartSensors will be installed along Interstate 15 between Interstate 215 and U.S. 95; and on CC 215 between Decatur Blvd and I-15. SmartSensor is the traffic detection component of the integrated management system, collecting volume, occupancy and speed data for Vegas' new traffic operations center. Last year, Wavetronix shipped 65 SmartSensors to Las Vegas as part of the project's first phase; FAST is also using Wavetronix Click!™ products as part of its data collection and distribution system.

Nevada Department of Transportation officials, in conjunction with engineers from TransCore (Salt Lake City, UT) and Kimley Horn and Associates (Las Vegas, NV), selected the SmartSensor after evaluating the sensor's reliability, ease of installation and accuracy. Kimley Horn and Associates is the designer for the project; TransCore is serving as the System Integrator for Nevada's traffic management system. Wavetronix is represented in the project by Advanced Traffic Products, Inc. of Everett, Washington, an authorized Wavetronix dealer.

SmartSensor uses patented Digital Wave Radar technology to detect vehicle volume, occupancy and speed in up to eight lanes of traffic, and is the only device in the ITS industry with a patented auto-configuration and auto-calibration process.
